Tecaboca: An Oasis

Tecaboca, a Marianist Retreat Center for Spiritual Renewal, is comfortably hidden from day-to-day, city-life hassles. It is a place to slow down, meditate, and welcome an opportunity for reflection. Located approximately 15 miles northwest of Kerrville, Texas, Tecaboca sits on over 100 acres in the Texas Hill Country, along beautiful Johnson Creek, a tributary of the Guadalupe River.

After entering our grounds through the waters of Johnson Creek, many groups enjoy the calming grounds and facilities. For the Marianist Family, we host Marianist Brothers Retreats, the Marianist LIFE South, and groups from St. Marys University. Many other groups, including the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Campus Ministry, Archdiocesan School and Parish Ministries Retreats, enjoy our facilities. We also host ACTS Retreats including Men’s, Women’s, Teens and the Third Cross ACTS Retreats.

A growing program is our Family Retreat. This program comes alive with a volunteer host family, excellent program staff, and spiritual direction from a Marianist Priest and Brothers. We offer two four day Marianist Summer Family Retreats, and the weekend Advent Family Retreat.

The Texas Catholic Boys Camp is a part of Tecaboca's history and continues today as a summer program. Started in 1937 by the Society of Mary, the Marianist Brothers not only gave Tecaboca its name (the first two letters of each word creates the name) TExas CAtholic BOys CAmp, they built a fine international reputation.

For school groups, we are able to guide teachers who would like to bring students to the outdoor learning environment. An environmental education curriculum is available for this site. These lesson plans teach care of our environment and stewardship, all within the natural sciences from a Christ-centered perspective for school children. We can tailor-make an experience for your group; please contact the Executive Director if you would like more information on this program.
