                                           For Boy's 7 to 15 years

The Texas Catholic Boys Camp is Tecaboca's history as well as its present and future.  Started in 1951 by the Society of Mary (Marianists), the camp gave Tecaboca its name (the first two letters of each word creates the name:  TExas CAtholic BOys CAmp and built for it a fine international reputation.

General Details   For half a century now, Marianists and their lay associates have staffed a camp where youth experience the outdoors under the skilled direction of caring adults. Camp Tecaboca has full-time licensed medical personnel on site 24 hours a day, and the entire staff is well versed in health and safety procedures.  Children of all faiths enjoy the camp, and all campers are encouraged to attend and participate in religious services, though participation is not required of non-Catholics.

Tecaboca has 2 two-week summer sessions.  For an additional fee campers can sign up for a 1 week session. Registrations are excepted for boys 7 to 15.  Campers are grouped by age, and they sleep in bunkhouses with adjacent shower and restroom facilities; younger campers bunk closer to the “Main House,”  while older boys are privileged to bunk in the cabins on “The Hill.”  Staff members are responsible for the welfare and recreation of the campers 24 hours a day.  A professional food service team maintains a balanced diet for all, and once a week staff and campers have an outdoor cookout.

Activities  Tecaboca is fun!  The horseback program is a favorite, run by experienced counselors who maintain a     safe, enthusiastic environment that even the younger campers can enjoy.  Campers participate in archery and riflery programs, which teach precision skills and give campers a chance to qualify for awards.  Concentration and a strict adherence to safety are components of all of our programs.  Red Cross-qualified lifeguards oversee a buddy system during swimming and canoeing periods.  (There’s nothing like the cool Johnson Creek on a hot Texas afternoon!)  Campers often return home with items they have made in leather craft, bead craft and wood shop.  And the fishing is great!  Some campers spend hours in the evening trying to land “the big one” in our beautiful river.  Evenings include two activity periods or special events like Frisbee Football, an extended trail ride, or the “Ranger Run,” a short distance marathon held once a week for campers who want to test their skill.  Tecaboca is definitely the place to do some stargazing!  You haven’t really seen the Milky Way spread across the sky until you’ve seen it away from city lights!
