Children’s Safety at Tecaboca

Tecaboca, and by extension the Marianist Province of the U.S., takes the safety of the children entrusted to us very seriously. Being safe is the very basic service we provide to our campers and families, and without safety, none of the other things regarding social and emotional growth can occur. Staff and volunteers are screened through nation-wide database searches, interviews, and reference checks. Summer staff is trained in a week long interactive program intentionally created to teach the summer staff how to interact with children, supervise them well, help them problem solve, and to build community. Our “rule of three” is the steadfast policy that ensures a program that has checks and balances for the safety of the children and staff - no one is to be with a child with fewer than three people present.
